A Message from our Principal

Hello Mountain View Parents:

I hope you are all enjoying an exciting summer with your children, filled with learning, fun, and maybe even some adventure! Summer is a wonderful time to reinforce the values of Trustworthiness, Responsibility, Respect, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship - the six traits of our Character Counts program.

Now for some important dates and information:

  1. Back To School Blitz will be on Saturday, July 26, 2014, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Pena Blanca Elementary/Calabasas Middle School campus. There will be a variety of agencies providing hair cuts, school supplies, health care, and uniforms.
  2. Meet Your Teacher day will be on Friday, August 1, 2014, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. We will be requiring parents to complete some basic registration papers prior to meeting your child's classroom teacher. Therefore, please plan to spend 20-30 minutes completing these forms.
  3. School will begin on Monday, August 4, 2014, at 8:00 a.m., and we will dismiss students at 2:15 p.m. As you know, daily attendance at school is the single most important thing you can do as a parent to ensure your child learns. For this reason, we urge you to schedule all appointments after school hours.
  4. Remember to check with the transportation department (375-8886) if you have any questions regarding the times and locations of your child's bus pick-up and drop-off on regular or early release school days.
  5. District #35 policy requires all K-8 students to wear a school uniform. The guidelines are as follows:
  • Uniforms consist of red or navy long or short-sleeved shirts (with no emblems) or school "spirit" shirts. Khaki or navy bottoms (shorts or pants for boys, and pants, capris, skorts, jumpers, and skirts for girls, school "spirit" pants for all, no denim allowed.) Belts and tucked shirts are recommended for all. Please refer to the student handbook for detailed information.

Our teaching and support staff are ready and excited to begin another school year. We ask that you prepare your child physically and mentally, and remember that we can accomplish much more if we all work hard together.
