A Message from our Principal

Dear Parents/Students:

Mountain View is a great school with fantastic students and teachers. Together, we make Mountain View the best school for our community!

I would like to inform you of some significant changes to Arizona revised statues regarding the promotion and retention of third grade students. Our current third grade students, 2013-2014, will be the first group impacted by this legislation. This newly revised law states that a student shall not be promoted from the third grade if the student obtains a score on the AIMS reading test (or a successor test) that demonstrates he or she is reading far below the third grade level. We are proud that Mountain View offers a comprehensive core reading program curriculum to all kindergarten through third grade students. Our teachers monitor the academic achievement of each student throughout the school year. I encourage you to read my letter in our March newsletter to learn more about this new legislation. We post our monthly newsletters for you on our News page

We ask that you prepare your child physically and mentally for school. Please talk to your child about school, and reinforce that success at school is a priority. I also want to encourage you to open lines of communication with your child’s teacher via e-mail and parent teacher conferences. Remember that at Mountain View, learning equals hard work, but like any kind of hard work, we can accomplish much more if we all work hard together.

Sincerely,

Manuel Carrillo
Principal
